Making an iced latte at home is a no big deal, until you need to find the right syrup that could go with an iced latte and know that adding the right syrup can completely change the drink. A good coffee syrup adds sweetness and flavor without overpowering the coffee or making your iced latte taste artificial.

I’ve tried different flavors in iced coffee, and I find that vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, and mocha are some of the easiest choices to start with. But there are also plenty of unique coffee syrup flavors if you want something different.

In this guide, I’ll share some of the best coffee syrups for iced latte, including popular options from Torani, Monin, and DaVinci Gourmet. I’ll also explain which syrups work best for different types of iced coffee.

1. Torani Vanilla Syrup

BEST FOR: Iced latte and casual use

If you want one bottle that you can use repeatedly, Torani Vanilla Syrup is one of my first choices.

It has a classic sweet vanilla flavor that works especially well with milk-based coffee. Torani specifically lists its Vanilla Syrup for flavored coffees, espresso, lattes, ice cream, milkshakes, and frappes.

I particularly like vanilla syrup when making an iced latte with instant coffee because the vanilla softens the stronger coffee flavor without completely hiding it.

2. Monin Vanilla Syrup

BEST FOR: Cafe style drink and long consistency

A Smooth Vanilla Latte is another excellent option if vanilla is your favorite coffee flavor.

Monin says its Vanilla Syrup is made with Madagascar vanilla, and the brand provides recipes specifically using the syrup in iced coffee. For example, its Vanilla Iced Coffee recipe combines iced coffee concentrate, vanilla syrup, milk, and ice in a 16-ounce glass.

That makes it a natural choice if you’re looking for a coffee syrup for iced coffee rather than a syrup mainly intended for desserts.

3. Torani Caramel Syrup

If you love sweet coffee, caramel syrup for iced coffee is probably one of the easiest flavors to enjoy. That can give your coffee a buttery texture.

Caramel works particularly well with milk because it adds a buttery sweetness while still allowing the coffee flavor to come through.

I like using caramel syrup when making a homemade iced caramel latte. You can mix it directly into the coffee before adding milk and ice, or add a little extra caramel around the inside of the glass for a more indulgent drink.

Popular options include:

  • Vanilla
  • Caramel
  • Hazelnut

1883 is frequently highlighted for its balanced sweetness and premium flavor profile.

5. DaVinci Gourmet Classic Almond Syrup

BEST FOR: Classic flavours, keto-friendly or sugar-free beverages

If you want to try something besides Torani and Monin, DaVinci Gourmet Classic Almond Syrup is worth considering.

DaVinci describes this syrup as a sweet nutty flavor made with almond. The company also says they sweeten this flavorful syrup with pure cane sugar to bring out the natural almond flavor.

That last point is particularly useful for iced lattes because the syrup needs to work well with milk.

6. Monin Hazelnut Syrup

Vanilla and caramel are popular, but hazelnut for coffee is one of my favorite ways to make an iced latte taste heavenly different.

Hazelnut adds a warm, nutty flavor that pairs naturally with coffee and milk.

If you enjoy roasted flavors, try a roasted hazelnut syrup in your iced latte.

How Much Syrup Should You Add to an Iced Latte?

Start with 1 tablespoon of syrup for a homemade iced latte and gradually add more if you want it sweeter.

For a larger drink, you may prefer 2 to 3 tablespoons.

The exact amount depends on the syrup, because some brands and flavors are sweeter or more concentrated than others.

If you’re using several syrups together, start with less. For example, instead of adding 2 tablespoons of vanilla and 2 tablespoons of caramel, try 1 tablespoon of each and adjust from there.
